There were four pavement races for open wheel competitors this past week in Indiana with graduates of the Kenyon Midget Series emerging as the winners.
Dakoda Armstrong, the 2004 Kenyon Midget Series champion dominated the USAC Hoosier Hundred for Silver Crown cars at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. It was Armstrong's third career win in a Silver Crown car and the first in the Hoosier Hundred. The New Castle (IN) resident has six career feature wins with the Kenyon Midget Series all coming in 2004.
That same night Kyle Hamilton, the 2009 Kenyon Midget series champion, scored the win at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in the All Star Midget Series holding off a stout field. Hamilton has recorded 15 career Kenyon Midget Series feature wins including a win this year at the Indianapolis Speedrome. Kyle O'Gara finished fourth with other alumni in the field including Trey Osborne, Ayrton Houk, Nick Hamilton and Armstrong.
Kyle O'Gara made it three for three for the Kenyon Midget Series alumni by winning the All Star Midget feature at Plymouth Speedway. O'Gara has 15 career feature wins with the Kenyon Midget Series and was crowned the 2014 champion. Kyle Hamilton finished fourth, four-time Kenyon Midget Series champion Dameron Taylor drove to an eighth place finish with Nick Hamilton coming 11th and Evan Patton in 19th.
O'Gara's nephew, Danny, is competing with the Kenyon Midget Series this year and took home Brad Hayes Racing rookie of the race honors at Anderson Speedway with a third place finish.
The weekend concluded with Jackson Macenko scoring his first win in a sprint car for Brad Hayes Racing in the Tom Bigelow Showdown for the 500 Sprint Car Tour at Winchester Speedway on Sunday. Macenko, who has seven Kenyon Midget Series feature wins, qualified second at Winchester and took the lead from Davey Hamilton Jr. on lap 17 for the 40 lap feature.
