OVID, MI – For the fourth time this year Dameron Taylor ended the night in the Jeff Hill Trailer Sales Victory Lane. Taylor picked up his 37th career victory with the series on Saturday and extended his point lead for a fourth championship over Isaac Johnson.
Aryton Houk took the lead at the start chased by Taylor, Clayton Gaines, Kyle Sheard and Landon Brown.
The first caution flag waved on the tenth circuit when Johnson and Trisdon Brown got together in turn two, with both drivers able to continue.
Taylor took the lead on the restart with an outside move with Landon Brown, Eli Fox and Gaines running in the top five.
Landon Brown moved into the second spot on lap 15 with an inside pass of Houk.
The race took on a different look on lap 16 when Gaines made contact with Houk on the front straight resulting in both drivers having to retire from the event.
On the restart Johnson and Trisdon Brown tangled for a second time, again with both drivers able to continue.
Landon Brown challenged Taylor for the lead, but on lap 18 slowed.
At the finish it was Taylor, Fox, Sheard, Evan Hammond and Andrew Wall.
Fox and Sheard battled for the second spot coming off the fourth corner with the rookie driver able to maintain the position.
“I couldn't hold the car down on the bottom on the restarts,” Taylor said in victory lane of the challenges from Brown. “I tried to get the car down on the bottom entering turn one.”
In only his fourth start in a Kenyon Midget, Fox recorded a second place finish at Owosso Speedway. “It was tight racing on the last restart, but we didn't come together,” Fox said. “The team gave me a great race car.”
Sheard finished the weekend with two third place finishes. “We had a really good car all weekend,” he said.
Rookie Wall established the track record of 15.411-seconds to capture the K&K Marketing Fast Qualifier Award.
Houk and Landon Brown were the KRJ Race Products heat race winners.
Johnson took home the Advanced Racing Suspensions Hard Charger award by advancing five positions to finish sixth, despite the two tangles with Trisdon Brown.
