With the announcement this week that the feature race at the Indianapolis Speedrome will battle over 50 laps, it's a return to history for the midgets. For many years Midget races at the demanding Speedrome oval were 50 laps and the Kenyon Midgets will be returning to that format on Saturday.

Issac Johnson scored his first career feature victory in the first visit to the Indianapolis track and will be looking to sweep the two events.

Current point leader Dameron Taylor is looking for a fourth Kenyon Midget title and leads Johnson by 124 points. The Indianapolis feature campaigner won rookie of the year honors in 2012 and has been crowned champion in 2017, 2018 and 2022.

Taylor finished second in the first 2025 visit to the Speedrome, but has not scored a feature win at the track in several years. He finished second twice in 2023.

Evan Hammond, the most recent first time winner with the series at the Sportsdrome is third in points trailing Johnson by 53 points. Hammond finished fourth in the first race.

In the Redline Ace Rookie of the Year battle Andrew Wall leads Clayton Bonhanon by 81 points. Bonhanon finished seventh in the first Speedrome race while Wall came home in 11th.

Five competitors are battling for the seventh through tenth point standings.

Kyle Sheard is currently seventh. Evan Patton is 52 markers behind Sheard, but is only 40 points ahead of Ryan Shilkuski with Lee Pierce one point further back and Brian Richardson only five points out of the top ten.

Patton scored a fifth place finish in the first Speedrome race.

There is also a tight battle for the K&K Marketing Top Gun qualifying award. Landon Brown currently has scored 58 qualifying points followed by Sheard at 45. Johnson has 40 qualifying points followed by Taylor with 39, Jase Petty with 29 and Hammond with 26.
